Bill on Marketing

BBDO, a great brand in the advertising agency industry, was recently dealt a devastating blow when they lost the Chrysler account, an account they had represented since 1943! The problems with Chrysler are not, and were not, the marketing, which has always been excellent. The ill-fated tie-up with Daimler, the messy, failed intervention by private equity firm Cerberus and other factors lead to the Chrysler bankruptcy and government intervention. The BBDO scorecard? 1,000 industry awards, the generation of 12 million prospects, the production of 35,000 ads in the last decade alone and a long tradition of great service. I am saddened. Great work has not been honored.

On another front, congratulations to J. Lennox Scott, who was awarded the REALTOR® Champion Award from the Seattle-King County Board of Realtors last Thursday evening. Lennox works tirelessly on behalf of our industry.

First-time homebuyers lead a November sales month that was 31 percent higher than one year ago. Pat Grimm from Windermere RE/Capitol Hill commented that “Move-up buyers have definitely picked up the baton,” in addition to the first-time buyers. Prices were down about 7 percent and inventory is down 16 percent from a year ago. NWMLS area median sales price dropped to $399,995, which is 3.6 percent less than last year.
