Bill on Marketing

I recently met with an excellent custom homebuilder in Vancouver, Washington, named Tracy Doriot.  Tracy is currently the president of Building Industry Association of Clark County.  “So how is business and what are your challenges?” Bill asked.  Tracy replied, “I have banned the word ‘challenges,’ because every day is a new opportunity.”  I love it.  Based upon the single family closings through the end of July this year, as provided us by Cory Crossman from New Home Trends, we have lots of opportunities ahead of us.

Sales remained slower last month in the four county region, but there are some positive signs.  “It’s a slow recovery, but it’s trending in the right direction,” said Joe Spencer, president and COO of John L. Scott.  Prices are stabilizing, and people are beginning to shop for homes again.   Pat Grimm at Windermere RE/Capitol Hill reported an upsurge in traffic, specifically move up buyers.
