Bill on Marketing The Daily Journal of Commerce recently ran an interesting story about the $99K house. Of course, it’s located in Houston, which has virtually no zoning restrictions for building, so the cost of land is, pardon the pun, dirt cheap. The architects, HyBrid and Owen Richards Architects, won the national $99K House Competition a year ago. HyBrid and Owen Richards are working on a number of potential projects in this area. Affordable and sustainable seem to be two very important buzz words in our industry these days.

Our onsite experience has been that many/most buyers like to talk about energy efficient building and Green products, but they typically do not want to pay extra for those features. This may be changing. The Builder Mag poll show that 57% of potential homebuyers would pay between $2,000 and $5,000 for energy saving features that could demonstrate a payback.
