Bill on Marketing

The National Association of Home Builders named Donna Shirey its 2009 Remodeling Advocate of the Year last month at the 11th Annual NAHB National Green Building Conference in Dallas. The award honors individual remodelers that promote green initiatives. Shirey serves as vice chair of NAHB's Remodelers Council and will be chair in 2010. She is also a past president of the Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties, and is president and CEO of Shirey Contracting in Issaquah. We like it when a local star makes good, so congrats, Donna.

Erik Mehr Knows Stuff

The following chart from the Mortgage Bankers Association is interesting. It shows, among other things, that 51% of all foreclosed homes had prime loans, not subprime, and that the foreclosure rate for prime loans grew by 488% compared to a foreclosure growth rate of 200% for subprime. So don’t believe all the TV shows that paint a picture of corrupt lenders, references to ‘liar loans,’ and other such nonsense. It is a more complicated issue than that. Our thanks to Lea Von Pressentin for supplying the chart.
