Bill Challenges Industry Associations to Action
So how about BIAW, MBA of King/Sno, MBA of Pierce County, BIA of Whatcom County, Olympia Master Builders and all the other builder industry groups combine to either repeal, or at least modify, the Growth Management Act? It clearly has not worked as intended, which should not surprise anyone. This fascinating chart, made available for publication by the good offices of Dave Harding, strongly suggests that prices tend to rise when supply is restricted (all things being equal). The graphical conclusion is that more restrictive markets, e.g. California and others (us!), provide more expensive housing than less restrictive markets (the blue line).
