Bill Reviews PCBC

PCBC was worth the visit this year. ‘The beginning of NEXT was the theme, and it set the correct tone for the event. My favorite speaker was former Apple executive and now best selling author Guy Kawasaki, who spoke on Enchantment. Great stuff, and the book is a terrific read. Walker Smith from The Futures Company (formerly Yankelovich) just oozes intelligence. The results of it's 10,000 person survey of home shoppers was very interesting. The top motivating factors in buying a new home, in order, are as follows: (1) Price/affordability; (2) Location – safety; (3) Home design – layout; (4) Proximity to needs; (5) Good schools, even for singles; (6) Exterior look; (7) Community; (8) Giving back (e.g. environmental issues). Smith said that a great price will get them in the door, but great design will close the deal. Lots of stuff on Green, and of course there was an Eco Potty.

MikeWest Talks Signs

We talk about signs at about every marketing meeting I attend, and we probably need to. Even as social media, ads, phone calls and such motivate people to come to a community, it's still signs that actually get them to the location. Here is a terrific signage system, not designed by us, by the way, that is working in South King County. It contains good colors and contrast, website (not phone number) and clear directions. Traffic and sales are very good, too. Connection?
