Bill on Marketing

There is an uptick in the market, albeit mostly the lower end, but we are grateful. Maybe it’s the ‘Spring Market,’ or maybe even something better. We shall see. Shelly Baehler from John Buchan Homes told me that the company had 17 offers in recent weeks. Jolyn Davis from Burnstead echoed similar numbers, Verdeaux Condominium had six sales in April, Canal Station in Ballard continues to rack up the numbers, Conner reports a flurry of sales activity, and similar stories abound. Buyers are responding to discounts, bought-down interest rates and other promotional efforts - - and surely the builders and developers are not making any money on most of the sales - - but there are signs of life. We even got a good front-page headline in the Seattle Times last Wednesday. Remember, if you let me know your good news, we will probably print it, no matter what company or builder.

Krebsy Keeps Track

The NWMLS reported that pending sales for April surged 11.4 percent over a year ago, and rose 21.3 percent from March. Inventory is down 18.3 percent from a year-ago, and prices are down 12.9 percent. Tacoma broker Dick Beeson of Windermere/Commencement reports that traffic at open houses and phone calls are up, and J. Lennox Scott of John L. Scott comments that “Sales are up and prices have stabilized in the more affordable markets....”
